Online Workshop on Tackling Disinformation – With Paul Thistlethwaite
Throughout history the powerful have been able to control and distort the news for their own gain, but in the modern digital age has disinformation become a much more serious problem? In this innovative and interactive workshop we will learn about some of the main causes of the spread of disinformation and explore together what the main ways to tackle it might be. Approaches include:
- Work on the Media: Platform regulation and strengthening journalism
- Educate: Media literacy and critical thinking
- Community: In tackling disinformation we are better together
This 2 hour session will begin with an active learning phase. This will be followed by discussion groups where you hear ideas from others and share your own. By the end of the workshop you will discover the ways forward that are most popular.
