How do we protect ourselves, our communities, our families and our friends from disinformation?

We need to stop the lies at source, we need better media, independent and trusted replacements, and we need effective regulation.

We need to divest our attention economy from the malignant media – BUT because the megaphone of misinformation is still set to 11, while those things are happening we also need to empower ourselves and each other to handle disinformation and division.

News Clubs – where we meet together to analyse the news together – help us break the isolation we usually experience when we doomscroll – and instead meet together to analyse news . But the propaganda is prolific – and soon we’re back on our own again, or hearing from people spreading opinion as if it’s fact, and we need tools that we can remember and easily use.

That’s where media literacy comes in – and the CAPE tool has been designed to be an accessible and memorable tool that helps you to help others and build up our self-defence against misinformation and disinformation.
