It’s a bit like a book club, but for news. Instead of discussing a novel, we read what’s actually in the news, AND what’s behind it.
Because the news has an enormous influence on us all — it shapes how we feel, what we worry about, and what we think is possible, and it does most of that quietly. Understanding this influence is one of the most radical things we can do right now. Not to feel powerless, but to take our power back, together.
That’s why Coexist, Media Revolution, and The Bristol Cable are teaming up to bring Monthly News Clubs to Bristol. And what’s even more exciting is that our November News Club falls right inside Media Liberation Week (#MLW26)!
Using Media Revolution’s simple CAPE toolkit (Content, Accuracy, Politics, and Emotions), we’ll unpack how big stories are framed and what’s missing from the headlines. Come join us for the free snacks, drinks, and good company — to break out of your usual bubble, build your media literacy, and tool up for a media revolution. Yes, really! Coming together this way may start with friendly chats and solidarity, but it holds all the ingredients to pave the way for real change.
There’ll also be a chance to chat and share your feedback with our friends at The Bristol Cable, Bristol’s own community-owned independent newspaper.
All are welcome and no expertise needed — just bring yourself and your friends!
